The Richmond School District is dedicated to providing opportunities for all students to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge which will enable them to enjoy a productive and satisfying life and to be positive, responsible participants in the democratic society and the global community.
The trustees, administrators, teachers and support personnel within the school system shares this mission with the students, parents and community. It is teachers and administrators who create opportunities for and provide assistance to students, and it is their knowledge, skill, energy, creativity and compassion which support and nurture the students in the process of education.
In addition to the wide range of courses in the academic, technical, information technology, the arts, and business fields, the school offers a number of innovative courses and programs at all grade levels including opportunities for enrichment. The school offers specialized courses in Modern Languages, Physical Education, Technology, as well as Visual and Performing Arts. Unique courses and programs offered include: Broadcasting and Recording Arts Technology, Engineering, all levels of Computer Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD) courses, Environmental Biology, Computer Animation, Desktop Publishing, and Music Composition courses , sports academies, Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate-Senior Years (IB-SYP) and International Baccalaureate-Middle Years Program (IB-MYP).
Located within 22 minutes of downtown Vancouver and 40 minutes from the ski hills on the North Shore Mountains, few communities are as well served by public transit – bus and SkyTrain – and superbly maintained public services.
