The Surrey School District is the largest public school district in British Columbia and the ideal place for international students to achieve their academic goals while experiencing a true Canadian lifestyle.
International students are invited to study with Canadian students in all 104 elementary and 19 secondary schools. International students can enroll twice each school year (September and February) and are integrated into regular classes with Canadian students while receiving ESL (English as a Second Language) instruction as necessary. There are a limited number of international students (5%) enrolled in each school so that each student receives the support and services necessary to ensure their educational success. Currently, over 1,100 international students are studying amongst 72,000.
Surrey Schools provides an education to over 2,000 international students from all over the globe. Approximately half of those students are funded by the Ministry of Education and include students with parents on a study or work permit, foreign diplomats, ministers and refugee claimants. The other 1,000+ students pay tuition fees to the District totalling $11+ million annually.
The school’s vision is to prepare the students to think creatively and critically, communicate skillfully, and demonstrate care for self and others
